Alyssa and I in August, 2017 |
A lot has happened in a year...
I took on a more active role at a new performing arts center through a foundation. I left, with a heavy heart, my 20+ year career at another. Of course, the foundation ended up being a sinking ship and now I find myself having to market my talents again. I was a fool to put all my eggs in a holey basket.
I have done some of the most creative and rewarding weddings and events while reinventing what my company stands for. This included commissioning a new logo and expanding the services we offer to include wine sales.
I took my kids on their first cruise and they're hooked! We also have made several trips to Magic Mountain, the San Diego Safari Park, and various other botanical gardens and theme parks. Alyssa and I traveled to Arizona on her first road trip and we enjoyed many days in Temecula.
An absolute lunatic got elected, somehow, as President. Perhaps unrelated, I have lost the joy I saw in the world. OK, that's probably directly related. America was an amazing place. No more. The world was a big place I wanted to visit. No more. People were generally good. No more. I just don't care to be the guy that sees the good anymore because there doesn't seem to be enough of that left.
On to the future...
My 20 year high school reunion is coming up in September. I am returning to an old client for a dance production in Long Beach is October. I am doing two of my closest friends wedding in November. I have one of my favorite lighting design gigs in December.
By the time my 2 year anniversary roles around next August, I will have cruised to Alaska again, seen my oldest son turn 18, and celebrated my 3rd wedding anniversary.
I hope to find time to write more and bring you all something you enjoy.
I hope not to be screwed by pathological liars this year.
I hope to live stress-free and try new foods and drink new wines.
I hope to hang out more.
I hope to work more weddings and events and less for bureaucracy.
I hope my grass gets greener.
I hope my vegetables grow.
I hope to laugh loudly and smile more.
I hope to sweat less.
I hope to lose a few more pounds.
Thank you...
