Total Recall

Hey movie buffs!  It's been awhile since I wrote a post about film and this seems like as good a time as any.  Today, I would like to discuss the masterpiece that is Total Recall.  I don't mean that 2012 watered down snooze fest with Colin Farrell.  Actually, that's not fair.  I shouldn't judge it as I fell asleep repeatedly while watching it.  Moving on...

Total Recall
I am, of course, talking about the 1990 piece of cinematic perfection.  This film is truly one of Arnie's best!  The effects, by 1990 standards, are amazing.  The story is solid and well written, and most importantly, Arnold is believable in the role.

I think we can all agree how amazing this film is and move on to the real reason I am writing this...

Now I have seen every version of this film multiple times including the oft terrible Sunday afternoon airings on KTLA or the UPN.

I know the story backwards and forwards.  I know what I have thought and always will believe about the story.

I want to know your thoughts...

It's indisputable that the first 20 minutes or so are "reality".  Once he visits Rekall, the reality of the film is what gets called into question.

So here's where you come in.

Do the next 90 minutes take place in realty?  (Hauser is a turned agent of the company that travels to Mars, defeats the bad guys, and saves the planet, living happily ever after.)

OR

Do the next 90 minutes take place in Quaid's head?  (Quaid is still at Rekall having a schizoid embolism which ultimately results in lobotomization at the end of the film.)

Chime in folks!  I want to know YOUR thoughts!
