Why Little Mermaid is the Greatest Disney Film Ever Made

I am going to talk to you about Disney's The Little Mermaid today.  Why?  Because it's my blog and I can.  I am going to bring you into my world and attempt to explain why I, a 37 year old man, still has a fascination with an animated film from 1989 about a 16 year old red headed mermaid.
Part of Your World...

Where do I begin?  This film came out in 1989 and carries a 7.6 on IMDb.  It should carry a perfect 10 but whatever! It's based on the Danish fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, albeit, Disney made it a slightly happier tale.  This movie is credited as bringing life back into Disney Animated Movies.

That's right!  You wouldn't have Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin or The Lion King if it wasn't for Ariel!

But why?  Let's talk about the fantastic music.  It won 2 Oscars, 2 Golden Globes, and 2 Grammy Awards.  The music is, to this day, gorgeous.  Go listen to it.  Hell, I am going to go listen to it.  I'll be right back...

Okay, let's just discuss that this is such a fantastic movie that it spawned 2 sequels, a Broadway musical, several theme park shows, and the upcoming live action remake.

My house has more Little Mermaid memorabilia than a married 37 year old male with 2 sons should have and I don't care.

The animation is beautiful, especially by 1989 standards, the voice acting is superb, the music is obviously timeless, and the story is heartwarming.  Guys, she was willing to give everything up for the person she loves.  Everything.  How many of you can honestly say you would do the same?

There is no soundtrack more easily singable.  There is no film more consistently watchable.  I dare you to prove me wrong.
