Dries My Sack: Misdirection

Welcome to the next entry in my, ongoing, op-ed. This series is titled "Dries My Sack" and can be compared to the Grinds My Gears segment in Family Guy Presents - Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. As I find things in life that piss me off, they'll become part of this series. The title for the series comes from a joke my father made while kayaking. I have a "Dry Sack" for keeping things dry during water sports and he made the joke that I should see a doctor. There you go...
He has to poop!

You know what really dries my sack?

Misdirection.

Before I continue, let me say that I hope anybody still supporting Trump reads through to the end with open eyes.  I know I am asking for a lot here, but prove me wrong.

OK.

Here it goes...

Are you ready?

If you're still supporting Trump, you're not paying attention.  You are being bamboozled by misdirection.

Allow me to explain.  There is a fantastic new account on twitter called @Trump_Regrets.  They basically just retweet former Trump supporters that are finally beginning to realize they made a grave error in voting for Trump.  Most of those regrets are expressed in response to something @realDonaldTrump tweets.  It's a fantastic collection and gives me hope.

Okay, let's look back a little bit before moving forward...

The misdirection begins during Trumps campaign.  How you ask?  Simple.  He dangled big scary words in front of uneducated voters and you fell for it.  I am sorry to be the one to tell you that, but it's true.  I shall offer this prime example:  Do you know, without googling Fox News links, why you wanted him to arrest Hillary Clinton AND why you refer to her as Killary?  I posed that question on Twitter and nobody could answer it.  He just shouted about Hillary Clinton being evil for sending a few emails via the wrong account and it blew up into her being responsible for all of your troubles in life.  FYI, she's been proven innocent on all counts and no wrongdoing was actually done.  While you were screaming for Hillary's head, Trump was colluding with Russia to rig the election in his favor.  This is another proven fact.  If all you do is read Trump tweets, Fox News, or Breitbart articles, you wouldn't know that this is, in fact, an accurate statement.

Moving on...

Trump LOST the popular vote by 3 million votes.  That's a fact.  It is not up for debate.  Of the voting population, 3 million fewer people voted for Trump.  He still won because of the Electoral College.  If you're unfamiliar with what that is, click here for a non-partisan education geared towards children.  Why am I bringing up the popular vote?  Because I regularly read online, Trump supporters still telling us that most Americans voted him into office and we should get over it.  Most Americans did not vote him into office.  Let's be clear about that.

Moving on...

Trump is losing supporters left and right because he tells the truth about what he believes.  The problem here?  His truths are racism, misogyny, xenophobia, etc etc etc.  No really.  Here, these are his own words, unedited:

That's your future President attacking a very respected Civil Rights pioneer.  On Twitter.  On MLK weekend.  And that is just one example.  His Twitter feed reads like 2 children arguing in a sandbox.

He tweets like an angry child.  He speaks like an angry child.  If a news organization reports the truth and it doesn't support his agenda, he calls them fake news. If you speak out against him or his agenda, he calls you over rated.  Seriously, read some news outside of your echo chamber.  People just use his own words to contradict him and he gets mad at them.

Why is this a problem?  Because, while you like to read about how a Hollywood legend "viciously attacked Trump in an awards speech" (read: literally just mentioned something he was caught on tape doing.), the real danger is happening around us.

Trump may be a horrible person.  He most definitely said, on tape, that he sexually harasses women.  He most definitely, on tape, mocked a disabled reporter.  He has been caught in lie after lie after lie and he hasn't even been sworn in yet.  Nearly everything he has tweeted since November 8th has been disproved.  Trump is most definitely not fit to be President but THAT is the misdirection.

See, not only did you cast your vote for Trump.  You cast a vote for all the evil happening while you sit here and debate with me about the fact that he definitely has the lowest approval rating of any incoming President or the fact that no congressman or woman is required to attend an inauguration.  You voted for his cabinet.

Is Trump still being too loud for you to hear what else is happening?

Paul Ryan is trying to repeal Obamacare, AKA The Affordable Care Act.  That's right!  They're the same thing people!  The ACA has helped me tremendously by keeping my life-saving medication affordable.  You actively voted to help kill me.

Mike Pence is notoriously against gay marriage.  He will make every effort to take away simple civil liberties afforded to gay couples everywhere.  You actively voted against the happiness of someone you love.

The GOP is trying to kill off 1600 species that have been protected since the late seventies.

The woman put in charge of education in America wants to put guns in all schools to prevent grizzly bear attacks.  You actively voted to put my children in danger.

The guy put in charge of labor is notorious for being against minimum wage hikes.  You actively voted against a lot of people you know and love.

The guy in charge of the environment doesn't believe in protecting it.

Should I keep going?

I didn't make any of this up.  Did you know any of this?  Or did the bubble you live in forget to mention it?

Trump is bad.  His cabinet is worse.  America is definitely changing but not for the better.  I promise, no good will come from this.  Anything you thought you were voting for isn't going to happen and more and more former Trump supporters are seeing that every day.  You elected a liar.  You elected an asshole.

I know it is hard to admit you were wrong but don't worry, we already know you were.  You just have to admit it to yourself.  You don't have to continue to waste money being conned by the oldest shill game.

I am still waiting for a single Trump supporter to tell me why they still think they made the right choice.  How is a Trump presidency going to benefit you?  Is that benefit worth the price the rest of America will pay?

The GOP is counting on the Left to get angry at the loud orange man on Twitter and ignore what they do in the shadows.

The GOP is counting on the right to scream at the Left just because they don't understand the truths being spoken.

The GOP wants you to remain ignorant of the facts.  I am happy to educate you.  Don't let the GOP strip you of your rights just because you are too scared to ask questions.

You fell for the misdirection and every day that you repost a Breitbart article, or comment that we should get over it, or act as though nothing bad can actually happen, you continue to fall further and further from reality.  You continue to enable hatred and fear and the end of America.  You continue to misdirect by being misdirected.

And that's what really dries my sack.
